Getting rid of the clutter!

One of my biggest pet peeves is clutter!  Especially mail clutter and "the pile" that sits on my kitchen table...so I found a hanging mail holder on eBay for $13.  Once it arrived I thought it might need some love, as the wood wasn't the best color.  The best method I could think of here was spray paint!  I purchased Satin Colonial Red by Rust-Oleum. First, I removed the compartment labels & filled in the holes with wood filler, allowed it to dry and then sanded.  Then I got ready to paint!  I love spray painting pieces, as it is a quick method and totally transforms the look of whatever you are painting.

After applying 2 coats of paint I taped off a section on each compartment so I could apply chalkboard paint to the new labels!  I then used 2 coats of Valspar Black Chalkboard paint for the labels...perfection!

Welcome to Chronicles of Sassy B!

Happy New Year and welcome to the Chronicles of Sassy B!  I am so excited to share all of my projects with you & hope you leave feeling inspired.  I am married, living in Denver, CO, with a love of the mountains, home improvement and labrador retrievers! :)
Thanks for visiting my blog! xo Sarah

2011 was the year of chalkboard paint for me!  I made this chalkboard with a silver platter and black chalkboard paint from Home Depot.  I sit it on top of my fridge and change the message depending on the season.

I found a simple 3 drawer dresser on Craigslist for $40!  This was my first furniture painting project where I used latex paint, and it definitely took me some time to finish the project. First, I removed the finish with a electric sander, then after coats of primer I was ready to paint with Behr's Antique Grey.  I found the perfect hardware at Hobby Lobby and wa-la...my first painted dresser didn't turn out so bad!
